Base ranking and maximum ranking

Two central concepts that have been released in the wake of domain ignorance are “Base Rank” and “Max Rank”.

The "Base Rank" represents the unaltered position in a SERP before applying any keyword settings, such as ignored domains, ignored local packs, or ignored featured snippets. It serves as a reference point for subsequent analysis.

Max Rank is defined as the highest position brazil whatsapp achievable in the SERP for a specific keyword after removing excluded domains, local results, or featured snippets, if these settings are applied. It represents the base rank of the first result in the SERP that is not ignored. It reflects the best possible positioning that can be achieved for a given keyword. We've also aligned the existing "Ignore local results" and "Ignore featured snippets" settings to this new paradigm, so that these settings also affect Max Rank. They will continue to affect rank as they always have, but we now also track base rank.

The "Max AI Share of Voice" is calculated as the dynamic CTR of the maximum rank multiplied by the monthly search volume and can be seen as an estimate of the maximum potential monthly traffic for the keyword. The "Max AI Traffic Value" is calculated as the "Max AI Share of Voice" multiplied by the average Google Ads cost per click, providing a realistic estimate of the maximum value of traffic from the corresponding keyword if it occupies the maximum achievable rank.
