TikTok Photos: new focus on images, but also on horizontal videos

Post by olivia25 »

We have been seeing the tremendous evolution of TikTok for years , going from being a social network for young people to dance to becoming one of the main channels for promoting brands and content creators . The success of this social network has always been based on its simple, sporadic and easy-to-consume content , combined with a new format so far: short and vertical videos.

Well, TikTok wants to break away from gambling data morocco everything and is now betting, on the one hand, on uploading images; and on the other, on long, horizontal videos.

At this point, no one can deny that the arrival of TikTok has put Instagram between a rock and a hard place, which is why the traditional photography social network has been forced to innovate and has opted, especially in recent months, for video content with its Reels .

However, and after a long time fighting for leadership in video content , it has been leaked that TikTok is now working on the launch of a new photo app called TikTok Photos . Curiously, it starts the same movement as Instagram did back in the day, but this time in the opposite direction.

After decompiling and analyzing the latest version of the APK (the app's installation code file) of TikTok, it has been possible to see that this new application is referred to on numerous occasions with phrases such as "Sync your posts with TikTok Photos", "Get TikTok Photos" or "Photo posts". It has even been possible to see the logo that the application will have, which maintains the original colors of TikTok.

However, TikTok has not yet released any official information about this new app or its launch date. However, remember that we can currently upload photos to TikTok : a single image or a carousel, and include voiceover, sound and text.

Horizontal videos on TikTok
You've probably seen how many content creators have been adapting the horizontal format of their videos for years by adding a frame or background to upload them to TikTok. TikTok only allowed content to be uploaded in vertical format, so that it would take up the entire user screen and thus offer a better experience .

However, earlier this year TikTok announced that it would allow uploading videos of 30 minutes in length ( until now the maximum length of TikTok videos was 10 minutes ) and also in horizontal format . What's more, its intention is to favour users who use this format .

This radical change can only mean one thing: TikTok is now also going after YouTube . In addition, with the possibility of doing live broadcasts from TikTok, if they also allow this horizontal format, TikTok would also be competing with streaming platforms such as Twitch.

What do you think about these fundamental changes on TikTok? And what do you think about all the social networks constantly copying or inspiring each other?
