"Device unavailable" - this phrase on the iPhone can scare anyone. Few people know what to do if this message appears. We tell you what it means - iPhone unavailable, and what options there are to get out of the situation.
What does "iPhone Unavailable" mean?
This message appears if you enter the wrong passcode for your phone several times. This is one of Apple's security measures, which provides for blocking in the event that the phone falls into the hands of intruders, and they try georgia mobile database to unlock it and enter the wrong passcode. The information on the phone remains completely safe, since it cannot be accessed without the passcode.
The unavailability message does not appear after the first error, it happens gradually:
Five incorrect attempts: the device is blocked for 1 minute;
Six attempts: for 5 minutes;
Seven attempts: for 15 minutes;
Eight attempts: 60 minutes;
Ten attempts to enter an incorrect code: the device is completely blocked.
It is after the tenth attempt to enter the wrong password that the message "iPhone is unavailable" appears on the screen. You must admit that it is highly unlikely that anyone will make a mistake in their password 10 times, so this measure allows you to ensure the safety of information when the phone is stolen or someone tries to hack it.
What does "iPhone Unavailable" mean?
But the owner has several ways to restore it even if the device is permanently blocked.
What to do when you see an unavailability message
If your phone is locked, you need to perform a full reset and restore. Before the procedure, it is advisable to make sure:
The device has one of the latest versions of the operating system installed (not lower than iOS 15.2);
The device is connected to a Wi-Fi network or has a SIM card inserted into it that has access to the mobile Internet;
You remember your Apple ID and password - without this data, recovery will be impossible.
After that, you can reset the data. We will tell you how to do this in detail.
Reset iPhone
If the screen says "device unavailable", look at the bottom of the message - there should be an offer to "Erase device". If this option is not there, try entering the wrong password a few more times - a certain number of attempts are required for the device to become locked and erasable.
When the erase option appears:
Click Erase iPhone;
Confirm your intention again;
Enter your Apple ID password to sign out of your account on your device;
Confirm deletion of data and settings.
After these operations, the phone will reboot, and you will be able to set it up as new, that is, restore it from a backup copy, and, among other things, set a new password code.
The same sequence of actions applies if it is not the phone that is locked, but the iPad.
Please note that you can only access the security lock screen if your phone is connected to the Internet via mobile or wireless data and has the Find My iPhone or Locator feature enabled.
Reset iPhone using buttons
After 10 attempts to enter the password, depending on the operating system settings, the iPhone either erases the information itself, or a screen appears with the message "device unavailable" and an offer to erase the information yourself.
Obviously, resetting your phone only makes sense if you know the Apple ID data to restore it. If you don’t remember the password, your iPhone will turn into a piece of plastic – the company is doing everything to make stealing these phones pointless.
