Nowadays, photography is already part of everyday life. We communicate through images, whether in private messages or on social networks. But to what extent do we stop to think and create a photograph? Or do we simply press the button that records the moment?
Last year, the Ibero-American University Foundation created the first edition of the PHotoFUNIBER photography contest with the aim of creating space to think and tell stories through photographs. With the contest, we hope to make known the diversity of the world in its various spheres.
Due to the success of last year's contest, when we received more than 3,000 photographs, FUNIBER is launching today the PHotoFUNIBER'20 edition. All information about the contest can be found at
Before registering, it is necessary to consult the rules of participation, available on the page where there are specific instructions on the size of the photo, as well as other details about the contest.
Images that tell stories
The photo participating in the contest must be original, without gambling data japan phone number having been awarded in other contests or commercially exploited.
For the entry to be accepted, the participant must indicate the category associated with the photograph. PHotoFUNIBER'20 will accept images from four categories:
NATURE: Photographs of natural environments, fauna, flora, water, among other elements of nature.
HERITAGE: Photographs of cultural elements such as architecture, dance, gastronomy, crafts, music, etc.
PHOTOJOURNALISM: Photographs that express human complexities through people, events and actions that represent human values such as solidarity, cooperation, education and personal development.
ABSTRACT: Photographs taken with or without digital or artisanal manipulation, which represent some original idea, concept or aesthetic.
Selection of photos and prizes
The selection of photographs will take place in two phases. In the first phase, 20 photographs from each category will be chosen as finalists. These images will be displayed in an online gallery on the contest page and will participate in a public vote.
In addition to the public vote, a Jury of Honor, made up of renowned photography experts, will select the best images from the gallery of finalists.
The competition will award 6 prizes, which will be announced on May 4. For each category, one winner will be rewarded with €400 and an 80% scholarship to study one of the postgraduate programs promoted by FUNIBER.
The photograph in each category will also receive the highest number of votes from the public, with a prize of €300 and a 50% scholarship to study one of the postgraduate programs promoted by FUNIBER.
Special Awards
In addition, two special prizes will be awarded to undergraduate students from the European University of the Atlantic and graduate students with FUNIBER scholarships:
The UNEATLANTICO Special Prize will select the 2 best photographs submitted by students and/or alumni who graduated with any university degree/diploma at the European University of the Atlantic, with a prize of €200 for each winner.
The FUNIBER Special Prize will award the 2 best photographs submitted by graduate students with FUNIBER scholarships, who have completed their studies or are currently studying, a prize of €200 each.
Exposure
As in the previous edition, the award-winning works, plus the honorable mentions, will be exhibited in the exhibition hall of the European University of the Atlantic, in Santander (Spain).
