Semantic Model Client Library Updates
Client applications such as Excel and performance when connecting to Power BI semantic models. This is due to the automatic conversion of legacy connection strings (e.g. pbiazure://*) to the XMLA endpoint. This change allows requests to be routed directly through the XMLA endpoint, eliminating intermediate steps, speeding up processing, and reducing the likelihood of errors.

You may need to update your firewall rules. And to ensure optimal performance when connecting to Power BI semantic models, be sure to use the latest Analysis Services client libraries.
