As Canva’s ecosystem manager Haneef says, “GPTs like ours allow people to use their favorite products in more convenient and interactive ways than they normally would, and that becomes a discovery engine for these companies.”
Currently, ChatGPT has around 180.5 million users, making it a great opportunity to connect with potential new customers.
“We see custom GPTs as a meaningful opportunity to meet users where they are… especially those who are open to trying new technologies and ways of working,” says Haneef.

While awareness and user acquisition are great benefits, Haneef told me he doesn’t intentionally use GPT as a user acquisition engine.
“We are seeing some growth in new users coming off this platform,” he says, “but it’s still early days and the lessons learned from engaging this customer base outweigh the benefits of acquiring users at this stage.”

When asked which use cases seem best suited for custom GPTs (and which don’t), Haneef was quick to tell me, “The most impactful GPTs will be those that use AI as a creative partner.”
