Outdoor movies are a classic summer tradition. If you have a projector and screen, all you have to do is ask one of the techs at your church to fire it up and hit play.

An outdoor movie night sounds incredible

To maximize your audience, it’s best to stick to kid- and family-oriented choices. Animated films like The Incredibles or Finding Dory are great choices because they appeal to both kids and adults. Hellraiser III, on the other hand, is probably best left for another time.

How to make it fun: Have audience members dress up as their favorite characters. Play live music before the function begins. Set up a concession stand and hire a volunteer artist.

How to raise money: Print out fun admission tickets and mom database sell them in advance. Sell hot dogs, pizza, and classic movie snacks like ice cream, popsicles, popcorn, candy, and cold drinks. Have a church leader give a speech before the show explaining why you're raising money and encouraging the audience to make additional donations.

9. Rubber duck race.
Ernie would love this.

Rubber ducks make fundraising so much more fun

The basic idea is that you have hundreds of rubber ducks on the bottom, numbered with permanent ink. Then you sell them for, say, $5 or $10 each.

On the day of the race, you release all the ducks into the river. Duck owners win prizes depending on when their duck crosses the finish line. Obviously, make sure you get local government approval before hosting a rubber duck race, and make sure you have plenty of volunteers to clean up all the ducks afterwards. Chicago hosts one every year to benefit the Special Olympics , and this race has collected over 50,000 ducks!

How to have fun: Hundreds of rubber ducks floating down a river - what could be more fun than that? If you want to make the race even more exciting, ask a volunteer DJ to play exciting music and comment on the race as you play. You can also set off fireworks when the winner crosses the finish line and have an awards ceremony.

How to Raise Money: "Adoption fees" is where most of the money will come from this fundraiser, but you can also sell concessions along the race route and ask local businesses to sponsor the race with cash and prizes in exchange for advertising at the event.

What are your church fundraising ideas?
As you can see, the most interesting church fundraising ideas come from creativity and imagination. At some point, someone took a good look at a bake sale and said, “We can do better than that.”
