The SPDA (Lightning Protection System) is a set of structures and solutions that have the function of protecting people and various buildings from the effects of lightning. In the SPDA, the design is designed to capture and dissipate atmospheric discharges to the ground, in a safe path.

The project itself is made up of CAD plans , stamp, technical notes, ART (Technical Responsibility Note), details and additional data.

In general terms, SPDA has three main uruguay mobile database subsystems:

a subsystem for capturing atmospheric discharge
a descent subsystem, which conducts the discharge current safely
a grounding subsystem, which receives the lightning and dissipates it into the earth
What about lightning rods?

These devices are part of the protection system. Their structure is composed of rods, conductive cables and grounding, which works through the mesh conductors that carry the discharge to buried rods.

How important is the SPDA project ?
It is not possible to control the occurrence of lightning, they are a natural phenomenon with sudden electrical surges, capable of affecting and destroying electrical installations and devices connected to them.

With a well-designed project , it is possible to avoid such damage, especially with the help of additional safety measures, such as the insulation of exposed conductive parts and the use of physical barriers to prevent touching areas of dangerous voltage.

It is important to consider, however, that even the most competent professionals are not capable of building a fully efficient system, however the presence of an SPDA reduces risks and losses considerably.

What are the most commonly used SPDA project models ?
Over time, technology has allowed different models of lightning protection systems to emerge. Currently, engineers develop SPDA projects with three main types. Check them out:

Franklin Method
The Franklin lightning rod system was developed by Benjamin Franklin in 1753. It consists of a metal rod with arrestors, connected to two conductors connected to the ground by the downstream system.

This star is located at the top of the building and the protective volume is a cone-shaped area from the top to the base of the building.

It is recommended for buildings without much horizontal area, with a maximum height of 45 meters or 15 floors.

Electrogeometric method or rolling sphere
Also called the fictitious sphere method, this model rolls a fictitious sphere through the construction.

At the points where the wheel touches the building, there is a greater probability of an electrical discharge, making it necessary to protect it with lightning rods, usually of the Franklin type. The larger the size of the sphere, the greater the level of protection. This system is recommended for very tall, architecturally complex buildings .
