Four-phase growth model

How do we as a municipality take the next step on social media? It is the most frequently asked question we encounter. Although the answer to this question is apparently not easy - otherwise the question would not be asked anymore - the question itself also requires some explanation. Because what do municipalities mean by the next step ? In this article we make the question more concrete and answer it by naming six essential steps. Steps that you absolutely must take to take the step to the next phase with your municipality.

The next phase: this implies that there was also a previous phase. Or a current phase in which you as a municipality country email list now find yourself. Is there such a thing as a yardstick that you can measure your organization against when it comes to the use of social media? This yardstick certainly exists , except that it dates back to 2014. As far as social media is concerned, that is a previous era. Nevertheless, this 'growth model social media and municipalities' is still very useful to determine where municipalities stand.

We will briefly summarize the four phases of this growth model:

1. Municipality discovers
The municipality discovers the possibilities of social media. Messages are mainly posted and questions are answered on a cautious scale via social media. The majority of the inhabitants are not aware of the presence on social media and therefore do not use it to contact the municipality.
