These findings suggest that despite the dynamic changes in the digital landscape, Google continues to be a key player when it comes to online searches, even among those who are engaged with the latest social media.
Data published by Axios shows that 46% of internet employment data users aged 18-24 start their online searches on Google, compared to 58% of those aged 25-39. This suggests a shift in search habits between Gen Z and millennials, who came of age at a time when Google was gaining dominance.
Google AI Insights launches in the UK
Google is expanding its AI services to the UK, where it is starting to see AI-powered search insights. The insights are available to a "small subset" of signed-in users and provide an improved user experience when searching for information. There is also talk that some AI-powered search features may be available only to subscribers. The new initiative is part of a broader trend of using AI to improve services and personalize content. While Google Search Generative Experience has been in testing in the US since May 2023, the feature is not yet available in the UK, but is expected to expand to the UK market soon.
