4 Questionable Sales Tactics The Mattress Salesman Tried To Use Against Me
This salesman – like many others before and after him – used some honduras number screening seriously questionable sales tactics to try to convince us to buy a more expensive mattress. In pursuit of a bigger commission, he did everything he could. He lied. He tried to oversell us. He insulted me and tried to make us feel guilty about our cost-conscious purchasing criteria.
1. Lying
If a customer asks a question, acknowledge the question and respond. Don't ignore it like the mattress salesman ignored my question, "Where's your cheapest mattress?" (not once, but twice). When a prospect asks a question, simply rephrase it to show that you've heard them.
2. Overselling
There’s a difference between upselling and overselling. There’s nothing wrong with upselling a customer if the more expensive option is truly the best fit for them. But give prospects the power to make that decision – don’t try to make it for them.
