LAST BATCH: Downing Street issued its final list of the new-look government yesterday, allowing Playbook to wrap up the pen portraits of new or reshuffled junior ministers. There’s quite a lot to get through, I’m afraid.
Brexiteer and rising star. Former London Assembly member elected to parliament in 2017. Born in London to Nigerian parents, but grew up in Africa and the U.S. before returning to England aged 16. Skilled software engineer and systems analyst. Hacked Harriet Harman’s website while a 20-something political activist to make it “say nice things about Tories.” Apologized to Harman last year. Used to work for the Spectator, just like her new boss. Definitely one to watch.
Jo Churchill, health minister. whatsapp number list Remainer. Promoted from the whips’ office, despite the calamitous defeats of the last government. Personal highlight was forgetting to cast her own vote during Theresa May’s final Commons defeat — which the government lost by a single vote. Here’s the video of how she reacted.
Colin Clark, Scotland Office minister and whip. Brexiteer. Farmer from Aberdeen who ousted Alex Salmond as MP for Gordon in 2017. Brexiteer and first Scottish Tory to back Johnson for leader. Will be disappointed he missed out on the secretary of state gig. Turns out he’s not even getting paid for the ministerial job.
