CDN stands for Content Delivery Network.
While a CDN does not replace a host or the need for web hosting , the feature allows you to cache content, thereby improving site performance.
Hosting platforms typically invest in a CDN because it can reduce hosting bandwidth, preventing service interruptions, improving user experience, and adding an extra layer of web security.
There are three types of CDN:
content service protocols : networks hosted, managed and designed to serve the content of a website;
peer-to-peer (P2P) : networks set up between personal computers;
private networks: they operate as a group of servers.
How does a CDN work?
Each of the servers that make up the network stores replicas of the content of the sites in its memory (cache). It works as a data exchange and the copies are kept for a possible request.
When a user clicks on the address to request this content, the CDN finds the closest physical server and displays the requested data, with much higher performance , i.e. with lower latency.
Additionally, as content is loaded from multiple malaysia mobile database servers, the site becomes more resilient to traffic spikes, failures, vulnerabilities, and threats.
This is because some features, such as load balancing, distribute network traffic evenly across multiple servers, making it easier to scale fast bursts.
Additionally, intelligent failover provides uninterrupted service even if one or more CDN servers are offline due to hardware malfunction .
In short, CDN is a group of hosting servers based around the world, which share page data to speed up the loading time of the requested content .
In the event that an entire data center experiences technical issues, CDN routing transfers traffic to another available data center , ensuring that no user loses access to the site.
