Most iPhone owners know about the iMessage feature, but they don't use it to its full potential. This is understandable: the feature needs to be activated separately in the settings, and not everyone gets to this section. We'll tell you what iMessage is and how to use it correctly.
iMessage - what is it
iMessage is an alternative to SMS messages for iPhone and iPad owners, an instant hong kong mobile database messaging service. It appeared in the fifth version of iOS, on iPhones in 2011, and since then it has stood the test of time. New technologies appear, but iMessage continues to be popular. True, mainly in the USA. In Russia and the rest of the world, this service has been supplanted by WhatsApp and Telegram.
The service allows you to exchange:
Photographs;
Text messages;
Video clips;
Contacts;
Documents;
Animated emoticons;
Music from Apple music;
Send money to people you know and get paid with Apple Cash.
The essence of the technology is that the exchange occurs via wireless channels, while SMS are sent via cellular networks. This means that iMessage can be used where there is no network coverage, but there is Wi-Fi. The service works in parallel with SMS. If the iMessage function is enabled, the system first tries to send a message via this channel, and if the subscriber is unavailable, it sends a regular SMS.
What is the difference between iMessage and SMS
In Russia, the popularity of this communication channel is falling, since communication in this case is only possible between Apple owners, but it is not possible to send a message from an iPhone to an Android.
How to Enable iMessage on iPhone
The function must be activated in the Messages settings section. Move the slider to the active position. Then you can configure the parameters:
Show Name and Photo - To personalize your messages, you can choose your name and avatar, as well as who can see them;
Auto-send - content sent to you via these messages can be automatically saved in the relevant folder: photos will open in the gallery, podcasts - in the Podcasts app, links - in the Safari browser, etc.;
Show contact photos - if you want to see the faces of those who sent you information;
Read receipt - if you enable this option, users will receive a notification that you have read their message (such reports will be sent to all users without exception);
Send as SMS is the most important parameter, thanks to which the message will be sent via the cellular network if the recipient does not have iMessage;
Message history - set the period during which they will be stored: 30 days, 1 year, indefinitely (the default is Indefinitely);
Number of characters - counts how many characters have been entered and how many are left (relevant for those countries where SMS is paid for by the number of characters).
So, these are all the options you can use to customize iMessage to suit your needs.
How to use iMessage
If you have the parameter activated and you start writing a new message, the system will automatically determine whether the other person has a similar function. Let us remind you that the exchange is possible if both have iPhones and the iMessage slider is activated. In this case, in the text entry window you will see the inscription iMessage (sending will go through this service), and on the right side of the line the arrow for sending the message will be blue.
