The first seconds count!
The user decides within the first five seconds whether they like the website or whether they would rather look elsewhere. This means the bounce rate is high if the user doesn't get the impression at first glance that they'll find a solution to their problem. We have to manage to gain the user's trust and convey credibility; after all, we want to convert the website visitor into a customer. Furthermore, the website represents our company and is essentially our digital business card. If we manage to do that, we've already won half the battle.
